With four engine choices, a complete redesign, and new sliding second-row seats, the 2020 Ford Escape delivers a thrilling performance, versatile design, and impressive fuel efficiency.Â
"This new vehicle performs like no other Escape before," said Jim Hughes, Escape chief program engineer. "It's quick, it's responsive and, in staying true to the standard set by three generations of Escapes before it, it's a heck of a lot of fun to drive."
Available in five well-equipped trim levels - S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium - the 2020 Escape features the choice of two EcoBoost engines, a 180 horsepower-rated 1.5-liter and a 250 horsepower-rated 2.0-liter, along with two hybrid powertrain options: the all-new 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle hybrid engine and a plug-in hybrid variant. Â
"This all-new Escape brings a sleeker, sportier design with the capability to take you on just about any of your life's adventures," said Kumar Galhotra, Ford's president, North America. "With our class-leading hybrid powertrains, customers will spend less time at the gas station and more time on the road."
Exterior updates such as a 200-pound weight reduction, a liftgate spoiler, and a sloping roofline help to create a highly aerodynamic model. Inside, rear-seat passengers in models equipped with a gas engine will appreciate the expansive legroom afforded by the sliding seats in the second row.
