Ford prides itself on its longstanding prowess with pickup trucks, and for some time, it has demonstrated that excellence with the full-size F-150 and the heavy-duty Super Duty. So, what is the difference between these two truck lines?

F-150 Capabilities

The 2018 Ford F-150 offers drivers a highly versatile truck, with an impressive list of best-in-class abilities.* For example, the F-150 boasts that it delivers best-in-class towing, when properly equipped and with the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost® twin-turbo V6, as it can pull up to 13,200 pounds.* On top of that, the F-150 also claims best-in-class payload ratings of up to 3,270 pounds.*

Super Duty® Upgrades

The 2018 Ford Super Duty® takes the F-150's example and runs with it to make a highly capable heavy-duty truck. In the Super Duty, the Ford truck's maximum payload jumps all the way to a best-in-class 7,630 pounds, and its conventional towing rating runs way up to 21,000 pounds.** That isn't the end of the Super Duty's best-in-class capabilities, though, as it also delivers a competition-beating maximum gooseneck tow rating of 34,000 pounds and a gross combination weight rating of 42,800 pounds.**

Ford Truck Power

These impressive titles are made possible by the powertrains of both the F-150 and the Super Duty, which deliver segment-topping abilities. For example, the F-150 lineup can be equipped with the above 3.5-liter EcoBoost®, which delivers the best torque in its class at 470 lb-ft.* The F-150 also offers an optional 3.0-liter Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel, which offers dual best-in-class numbers with 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.*

The Super Duty, once again, adds onto the F-150's base, also offering the best gasoline torque in its class with its 6.2-liter V8, which offers 430 lb-ft.** Then, the Super Duty takes its diesel power to the top of its class with a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel, producing 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque.**

One of our favorite parts about the F-150 and the Super Duty, of course, is that both are available for test drive and purchase here at Weimer Ford.
